The Raven on the Moor

I'd love to say this was inspired by the recent horse meat scandal but it really wasn't...

The Raven on the Moor

A pony was diverted from its usual course,
Suddenly spooked and fleeing, with its neighbouring horse,
It had seen a raven, a raven on the moor.

Climbers saw a commotion and ceased their hiking:
The pony was rearing, running, much to their liking,
It had seen the raven, the raven on the moor.

A Handler went running, to the gawping crowd,
To admire his pony, of whom he was so proud,
It had seen the raven, the raven on the moor.

The man tripped and fell, due to his rushing,
A smack on the rock and the blood came gushing,
The group ran over, fussing and hushing,

But for this they were too late,
The farmer had met his fate,
Because of the raven. The raven on the moor.
